To create a desktop shortcut to send an email

Every time typing the email address of your girlfriend/boyfriend/.. to send an email might be irksome for email addresses that are too long or for people who want everything at their finger tips the good news is that you can create a shortcut on the desktop that can open the compose page directly (without you having to click on Compose) with your default mail client Outlook Express/Yahoo Mail ... with the email address automatically inserted in the 'To' field. Follow the below steps:

  1. Right click on the desktop click on New  ----> Shortcut

  2. In the text box for 'Type the location of the item' Type "mailto:abc@xyz.com" without quotes (Of course type the email address of the person instead of abc@xyz.com)

  3. Click on 'Next' Type a name for your shortcut and click on finish

  4. If you want to open just the compose page without any email address then in step 2 Type "mailto:" without quotes instead of "mailto:abc@xyz.com"

To create a desktop shortcut to send an Instant message through Yahoo Messenger
