Windows File System Conversion

Converting FAT 16/ FAT 32 file system to NTFS has a number of  advantages because of greater performance, security and reliability features available with NTFS.

To convert a FAT file system to NTFS:

1) Click on 'Start' ---> 'All Programs' ---> 'Accessories' ---> 'Command Prompt'

2) At the command prompt type "convert drive letter: /fs:ntfs"

for eg:

If you want drive C to be converted to NTFS then type

"convert C: /fs:ntfs" without quotes.

3) Type the volume label for the drive you are converting and press enter to begin conversion process
