What is a taskbar?
A major part of the Windows XP interface is the Taskbar, which appears as a horizontal bar at the bottom of the display (or on one of the sides or at the top if you decide to move the Taskbar there). The Taskbar is the central control area for most actions you'll take under Windows XP. The Taskbar contains three major elements: the Start menu, the Task List, and the Notification Area also known as the System Tray and various other names in the past. It stores your start menu, shortcut buttons for open programs, system tray icons, and clock. All your windows can be minimized and maximized using the taskbar.
